Get May off to a great start with the 4th Annual New York Burger Week. That's right: a full week of burger-fueled happiness right here in New York City. Sponsored by Schweid and Sons, this year's Burger Week will run from May 1st to the 7th with fun (and delicious) burger-themed events every night.
The festivities kick off on May 1st with The Burger Feast at Hudson Common at the Hudson Hotel with craft beers, music by Lily Vanilli, and, of course, samples of some of the city's best burgers. Hard Time Sundaes, Black Iron Burger, Ramen Burger, Genuine Roadside, Hudson Common, The Ainsworth, and Heartland Brewery will be offering up their signature burgers alongside local craft beers from Kelso Beer.
On May 2nd, you can grab a burger and give back to your furry friends with the Burgers for Barkers event at NY Distilling Company. The Hard Time Sundaes burger truck will be parked outside of the distillery to raise money for the New York Bully Crew, an organization that specializes in rescuing pit bulls and other "bully breeds." They'll be serving up 200 free burgers and cash donations of any amount are accepted and encouraged. 100% of the proceeds raised at the Burgers for Barkers event will help support the New York Bully Crew and you'll be happy to donate after you've tried one of the best burgers in Brooklyn from Hard Time Sundaes. NY Distilling Company's on-site bar The Shanty will also be selling their locally-made spirits.
Once Sunday May 3rd rolls around, you'll be more than ready for the Boozy Burger Brunch at Beer Culture. Admission gets you three mini burgers made with three different kinds of beef from Schweid & Sons. Your mini burgers will be paired with either a craft beer from Two Roads or whiskey from Heaven Hill. This event is all about the different flavor combinations and pairings so representatives from Two Roads and Heaven Hill will be on-hand to explain how your drinks pairs with the high-quality beef from Schweid & Sons.
May the 4th be with you at Pounds & Ounces Star Wars Themed Burger and Cocktail night. Pounds & Ounces will be transformed into the Mos Eisley Cantina and will be serving burgers that will not only feed your stomach, but also your inner Star Wars nerd. Indulge in the Kobe-Wan Waygu Burger or the Han's First Shot Slider while sipping the Dark & Storm Troopery. While you're enjoying your burger, you'll be able to watch the original Star Wars Trilogy all night long. Show up in your Star Wars finery & be entered in a contest to win a $100 gift card to Pounds & Ounces and a Schweid & Sons apron.
On May 5th, head to Genuine Superette for a Blind Burger Tasting. Blindfolds will be provided and you'll be served three mini burgers made of either commodity ground beef, Schweid & Sons prime chuck, or a special Schweid & Sons secret ground beef blend. Correctly identify each burger and you'll be entered into a drawing to have the secret blend burger named after you when it hits the Genuine Superette menu. Joios, a collaborative food & drink community, will be there to collect your burger ratings.
May 6th marks the Beer Burger Dinner at Beer Authority. You and a friend will have three different off-menu burger creations from Chef Louis to split along with perfectly paired craft beers from Allagash Brewing Company, french fries, and fried pickles.
End burger week with your pinky up at the Burger and Bubbly Pairing Dinner on May 7th. This year's dinner will be at New York Burger Co. and feature Champagne, Prosecco, or Sparkling Wine pairings from Baron Francis. Each burger course has a specially selected bubbly beverage to go along with it and experts from Schweid & Sons and Baron Francis will be there to answer any questions about the flavor pairings.
