So you want to intern with DoNYC, huh? Not a bad choice if we do say so ourselves. 


The good news is we’re frequently hiring interns so if you’re already a regular DoNYC user, and just plain fantastic, then you might just be the right fit. What can you expect? Hard work, equal amounts of fun, and a lot of discovery and learning. Interns have the opportunity to network and make a variety of exciting and useful contacts at DoNYC in addition to learning the industry ropes before it comes time to get a real job. Creativity and new ideas are always welcome.

General Requirements:

  • Able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Prior awareness of DoNYC - active user of the site, and familiar with our other outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Newsletter, etc.)
  • Strong, proven writing and communication skills
  • Strong passion for music and/or NYC events and nightlife
  • Generally “in the know” about NYC events and happenings
  • Self-Motivated - ability to focus and complete duties in a casual environment
  • Candidate should ideally be looking to fill a college credit requirement. This is negotiable.



INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP - SUMMER


JOB DESCRIPTION

DoNYC’s Business Development intern will be involved in all aspects of the sales and partnership development process. In this position, you'll be introduced to processes such as lead generation, media planning, campaign production and the creation of proposals. This internship role will require an ambitious and confident candidate who is able to think creatively about sales and partnership opportunities and wants to develop their research and planning skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifying potential leads and partners
  • Assisting in the development and execution of creative advertising campaigns
  • Developing creative, unique messaging targeting new brand clients & partners
  • Contributing to proposal decks and documents
  • Exploring opportunities for giveaways and RSVPs to grow our audience
  • Help compile and submit ad reports in a timely manner 

BONUS POINTS IF:

  • Educational focus in business, marketing or advertising
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - able to think outside of the box and come up with creative ideas and ways DoNYC can work with other companies to generate sales & audience growth

CONTENT + SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP - Summer


JOB DESCRIPTION

DoNYC’s Content intern will mainly be supporting the creation of articles and lists like Top Picks, Racial Equity and Solidarity events, Where to Eat and finding cool, interesting events to feature in our calendar! You should have both knowledge of and passion for all things New York (it's a plus if you're already actively using DoNYC to find livestreams and events in the city!) We work quickly and efficiently, but having an eye for detail is equally important. Strong writing skills/experience writing short-form copy are ideal and familiarity with the music and event industry, what the 'cool kids' are up to, etc. is a must. You will get a grip on the inner workings of site operations, but will quickly jump into the world of editorial guides and social media as a member of our content team. We're looking for a fun-loving individual with a voice and ideas to help us tell DoNYC's story even better.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • Short-form editorial round-up writing. Think: Best BYOB Brunch Spots In NYC 
  • Finding news, adding events and contributing to the team's content calendar 
  • Creating list-users (Lists of events that fall in the same category) on our site.
  • Sourcing user-generated content for Instagram and Twitter
  • Help curate content and execute programs
  • Helping with PR/outreach to businesses & artists we've featured in our content

Candidate should ideally be looking to fill a college credit requirement. This is negotiable.


WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • Strong, proven writing skills, with samples
  • Proven ability to write short-form social media copy (send us your social handles!)
  • Previous writing/social experience i.e. a blog or contributing to an existing site/publication Some great ideas right off the bat of how we can do more with our content
  • Willingness to learn and ability to learn quickly
  • Confident, creative thinker - ability to speak up and contribute in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with current, active profiles
  • In the know about the latest and greatest social media and digital marketing tools.
  • Industry-obsessed, following what others do and brainstorming how it could be done better
