Where to Buy Fireworks Near NYC
Fourth of July is quickly approaching, and that means the sky will soon be lit (and for many New Yorkers, it already has been) in celebration of the nation's independence. If streaming fireworks on TV feels like a dud, here are some places where you can purchase the stuff you need to make your 4th of July "lit." Just make sure you use them in a legal area because not getting arrested is the name of the game.
Note: All joking aside, please be considerate and use caution not to put anyone at risk as there have been numerous complaints over illegal use of fireworks in the city this year.
New York
In New York, most types of consumer fireworks (like firecrackers and bottle rockets) are illegal statewide. There are a few counties where “sparkling devices” are legal to buy and use, but only in those areas. As for NYC, stick to the official fireworks displays if you’d prefer to keep all your fingers and stay out of trouble.
Pennsylvania
For years, PA has been a go-to for NYC folks stocking up on fireworks, but the laws have changed. Now, anyone 18+ can legally buy and use consumer-grade fireworks, no permit needed. That said, there are strict rules on where and when you can set them off. From megastores to Mom & Pop stands across the state, PA still has plenty of options, no matter how big your sparkler dreams are.

Connecticut
Connecticut might not be your first stop for fireworks, but there are shops less than 2 hours from NYC. Just remember: only sparklers and fountains are legal for those 16 and older; anything that explodes or launches is banned without a professional license. That said, these smaller shops offer great customer service and knowledgeable staff to help you pick the safest (and still fun) options.
